Drag Lines, Drag Line machine is a huge crane that has a collection bucket at the end of a line 126,000 pounds and big enough to fit 4 cars in it, at the end of the bucket are 6 – 200 pound cast iron teeth.
These teeth are $800.00 each and wear out in 5 weeks, when these teeth wear out it is a 2 to 3 hours to change the teeth. During this time the pumping is stopped, with the Thermal Processing the tooth life increases from 5 weeks to 12. The mine in question has five drag lines running 24/7, so every 5 weeks they are changing 30 drag line teeth or 300 per year, with Thermal Processing they change 130 per year. A savings of $137,600.00 annually.
Pumps and Pump liner:
In order to pump the slurry that is starting at the drag line huge pumps are set sometimes a few hundred yards apart, these have pump liners there are 2 sizes the smallest being 3,000 pounds the bigger around 4,000, we have processed the smaller.
These are pumping 'phosrock' very corrosive and heavy, the smaller pump liner cost is $12,000 each the larger is $18,000 each, they are changed every 3 to 4 months on average and it is an 8 to 12 hour job with Thermal Process these are now lasting from 6 to 7 months.
There are a total of 174 pump liners at this mine, so if we take the cost of the smaller one only and assume for the sake of this analysis all 174 are the $12,000 ones every year they change 696 liners at $12,000 each not counting substantial downtime loss. With Thermal Processing they change 348 liners saving $4,176,000.00
